Syracuse University’s women’s lacrosse team extended its winning streak to eight games with a 10-8 victory over UAlbany on March 24 at John Fallon Field.

The game was marked by strong performances from Emma Muchnick and Caroline Trinkaus, who each scored three goals for the Orange. Molly Guzik also contributed a goal, marking her eleventh straight game finding the net. Syracuse’s defense played a key role in the win, causing 12 turnovers and holding UAlbany to just eight goals. Goalkeeper Daniella Guyette recorded four saves during the match.

The Orange established an early lead with goals from Trinkaus, Guzik, and Annie Parker, ending the first quarter ahead 4-2. In the second quarter, Trinkaus added a man-up goal while Mackenzie Rich and Muchnick each scored to give Syracuse a 7-5 halftime advantage.

A defensive third quarter saw Syracuse prevent UAlbany from scoring while adding another goal themselves. Although UAlbany made a late effort in the fourth quarter by scoring three times to narrow the gap to 9-7, Muchnick responded with an important goal midway through the period. The Great Danes continued to press with free-position opportunities late in the game but were unable to overcome Syracuse’s defense.

In the final minute of play, Courtney Maclay forced a turnover and secured possession for Syracuse as time expired. The team will return home for their next matchup against Pittsburgh on Saturday, March 28 at JMA Wireless Dome.
