The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team is set to host Florida State on Thursday, January 1, at the JMA Wireless Dome. The game will begin at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
Syracuse enters the matchup with an 11-2 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Their most recent outing was a 71-51 loss to Duke, which ended a six-game winning streak and marked their first home defeat of the season. In that game, Syracuse struggled offensively, shooting just over 34 percent from the field and making only two three-pointers. Dominique Darius led the team with 18 points, while Laila Phelia contributed 11 points.
Despite the setback, Syracuse has performed well this season, especially at home where they have a 9-1 record under head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. The team has shown strong defensive capabilities, ranking second in the ACC for steals per game and third nationally for offensive rebounds per game.
Freshman Uche Izoje has been a standout player for Syracuse. She leads the ACC in blocks per game and ranks seventh nationally in that category. Izoje is averaging nearly 13 points and eight rebounds per contest and has earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors three times this season.
Florida State comes into the game with a 5-9 overall record and is seeking its first conference win after starting ACC play with two losses. The Seminoles have lost four of their last five games and have not played since December 20, 2025. Historically, Florida State holds an 8-6 lead in the all-time series against Syracuse. However, Syracuse’s last victory over Florida State came when they overcame an 18-point deficit to defeat then-No.15 FSU on January 18, 2024.
Fans attending Sunday’s game can visit marketing tables at Gates B and C or Guest Services inside the Dome to collect promotional items such as schedule posters, wristbands, and roster cards. Tickets for all home games are available online at cuse.com/basketballtickets.
