The Syracuse women’s basketball team will begin its 2025-26 season on Tuesday night with a home game against Stony Brook at the JMA Wireless Dome. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will be available for streaming on ACCNX via the ESPN App or Watch ESPN.

Felisha Legette-Jack, entering her third year as head coach, has assembled this year’s squad around returning starter Sophie Burrows. Over the offseason, Syracuse added eight new players, including senior transfer Laila Phelia, who scored 17 points in an exhibition game against Daemen last week. Uche Izoje is also new to the lineup and led the Orange with 19 points in that preseason contest, marking her debut at the Dome.

Stony Brook comes into the season under head coach Joy McCorvey after posting a 12-18 record in 2024-25. The Seawolves have brought in several transfers—Diaka Berete from Jackson State, Sandra Frau-Garcia from Chicago-Illinois, Caitlin Frost from St. Bonaventure, Melissa Mwanza from Louisiana Tech, and Alonna Sellers from Central Connecticut—along with four freshmen. Last season, Stony Brook went 7-11 in Colonial Athletic Association play and has been predicted to finish 12th out of 13 teams this year.

This will be the fifth meeting between Syracuse and Stony Brook all-time and marks the third time in six years they face each other in a season opener. Syracuse leads the series 5-0 and won their last encounter at the JMA Dome with a score of 79-56.
