The annual One University Awards Ceremony at Syracuse University is set to take place on April 11, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Hendricks Chapel. The event honors various members of the university community for their contributions in academics, scholarship, creative work, and service. Chancellor Kent Syverud describes the awards as “one of the great traditions at Syracuse University,” which acknowledge “the incredible accomplishments, scholarship, and innovation” of the community members.
Two major recognitions will be awarded during the ceremony: the Chancellor’s Medal and the Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence. The Student-Athlete Award, Judith Seinfeld Scholarship, Meredith Professorship for Teaching Excellence, and other honors will also be presented. Emeriti faculty and long-serving employees will receive recognition, as will various scholars and marshals from the university.
The Chancellor’s Medal, the highest honor of the university, will be awarded to Cydney Johnson, former vice president for community engagement and government relations, and Bill Coplin, Professor of Policy Studies at the Maxwell School. The Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence will be presented in multiple categories, including student research, contributions to the student experience, and faculty excellence.
The ceremony is open to all university members and accommodations, such as ASL interpretation, will be available. A reception will follow the ceremony.
Recipient details include recognition for Qingyang Liu and Abigail Greenfield as student research awardees, Farzana Rahman and others for contributions to the student experience, and James Clark for lifetime achievement. Charlotte Ebel, Jordan Beck, and Emma Klein are among those honored as top student-athletes. Other awards recognize teaching excellence, enduring values, and contributions to lifelong learning and embodying university values.
