It is with deep regret that Syracuse University acknowledges the tragic loss of two international graduate students from the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The students were involved in a fatal accident last Thursday at the intersection of University Avenue and East Adams Street.

The students, whose names have not been disclosed at the request of their families, were recognized for their academic achievements in fields such as electrical engineering, bioinstrumentation, computer science, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Their contributions to the academic community are noted as significant.

Allen W. Groves, Senior Vice President and Chief Student Experience Officer, expressed condolences on behalf of Chancellor Kent Syverud and other university leaders. “We grieve their loss deeply and extend our heartfelt condolences to their loved ones,” he stated.

The university is offering support services to those affected by this incident. Students can access confidential counseling through the Barnes Center at The Arch. Faculty and staff have resources available via Carebridge. Hendricks Chapel provides additional support for all campus community members.

This message comes with an appeal from Allen W. Groves for the community to offer support to those grieving this loss.
