The One University Awards ceremony took place on April 11 at Hendricks Chapel, celebrating the achievements of the Syracuse University community members in academics, creative work, and service. Lois Agnew, vice chancellor, provost, and chief academic officer, hosted the event.

Highlights of the ceremony included the Hendricks Chapel Choir’s performance of “I Was Glad,” directed by graduate student Ben O’Connell. University Marshal Bea González ceremoniously passed the charter mace to the incoming University Marshal, Samuel Clemence.

Chancellor Kent Syverud delivered the opening remarks. Emma Klein from the women’s soccer team was among the recipients of the Student-Athlete Award. James “Jimmy” Taylor Jr. was recognized for five decades of service. Bill Coplin, a professor in the Maxwell School, was also acknowledged for his long-term commitment to the University with 55 years of service.

Additional honorees included Craig Tucker, who received the Enduring Values Award, and Howard G. Adams, who was awarded the Tolley Medal by Chancellor Syverud with Kelly Chandler-Olcott. Qingyang Liu received the Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence in Student Research, while Emma Karp was honored for her contributions to the student experience.

James Clark was recognized with the Chancellor’s Citation Lifetime Achievement Award. Cydney Johnson received the Chancellor’s Medal from Chancellor Syverud, as did Bill Coplin. The program concluded with students Yifan “Ivan” Shen, Mason Romero, Joshua Garvin, Jennifer LaMonica, and Ryan Myers leading the alma mater.
