Syracuse University is inviting its alumni entrepreneurs to apply for the third annual ’CUSE50 Alumni Entrepreneur Award. This award recognizes 50 of the fastest-growing businesses globally, owned or led by Syracuse alumni. The application deadline is July 13.
In previous years, the awards have honored leaders from various sectors, including global investment firms and sustainability impact measurement companies. Notable past honorees include inventors and managing partners in diverse industries.
Mike Haynie, vice chancellor for strategic initiatives and innovation and executive dean of the Whitman School, stated: “The Whitman School of Management is proud to be home to one of the nation’s first academic entrepreneurship programs, and for decades we’ve championed the ambitions of Orange innovators.” He added that the awards aim to foster connections between current students and successful alumni entrepreneurs.
Eligible applicants include graduates from any school within Syracuse University, participants in executive education programs, and alumni from entrepreneurship initiatives at the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families.
Tracy Barlok, chief advancement officer, expressed her enthusiasm: “The ’CUSE50 awards have become one of my favorite Syracuse traditions because they exemplify our mission to support the academic pursuits and successes of our entire campus community.”
The awards ceremony will take place on November 13 at the National Veterans Resource Center. Following this event, a student summit will be held where awardees will engage with current students at the Whitman School.
Rob Long ’12, G’14 shared his positive experience as a past participant: “Being part of the ’CUSE50 Awards last year was a truly positive experience and an awesome opportunity to return to campus.”
