Syracuse University is currently addressing the impact of recent federal actions on three international students whose visas or legal status were revoked by the U.S. Department of State. The university reported not receiving prior notification nor has it shared any information with the authorities before the students were informed of their status change. No reasons were provided for the selection of these students.

The institution’s Center for International Services is collaborating with the Office of Academic Affairs and the students’ academic departments to ensure their education continues without interruption. Two students are expected to graduate on time, while efforts are ongoing to support the third student’s academic journey.

Acknowledging the potential concern among international community members, the university has communicated directly with international students, faculty, and staff. Updates will be provided as the situation develops. For related inquiries or concerns, Juan Tavares, director of the Center for International Services, can be reached at jtavares@syr.edu or 315.443.5833.
