Syracuse men’s lacrosse will conclude its regular season against top-ranked Notre Dame on April 25. The match, set for noon Eastern Time, is a significant contest as Syracuse seeks at least a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Men’s Lacrosse Regular Season title.

This game holds importance for both postseason positioning and program milestones. With a win over Notre Dame and if Duke defeats North Carolina, Syracuse would secure the outright ACC Regular Season Championship and earn the number one seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament. If Syracuse wins but North Carolina also wins, Syracuse would tie with UNC for the title but take the second seed due to a head-to-head loss earlier in April. A loss would lock Syracuse into the third seed regardless of other outcomes.

The Orange have faced several highly ranked opponents this season, including an earlier victory over then-number one Maryland. According to team records, this marks only the fifth time since 1973 that Syracuse has played multiple top-ranked teams in one season. The last time they won against a number one ranked team on the road was at South Bend in 2017.

Syracuse enters this matchup following a strong nonconference finish with a win over Colgate and boasts an undefeated home record at JMA Wireless Dome this year. On the road, they hold four wins out of seven games so far. Their offense averages just over thirteen goals per game while Notre Dame allows fewer than ten goals per contest.

Team play has been notable for its unselfishness; many players from different positions have contributed to scoring through both goals and assists throughout recent games. In their last nine victories, more than half of all goals were assisted—reaching as high as nearly ninety percent assisted goals during their March win over Duke.

A victory on Saturday would improve Syracuse’s all-time record against Notre Dame to thirteen wins and eleven losses and mark their second win against a number one ranked team this season.
