The Syracuse Orange softball team is set to play a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series against Louisville from April 24 to April 26 at Ulmer Stadium in Kentucky.

This matchup is important as it marks the last regular season ACC road series for Syracuse, which currently holds an overall record of 18-20 and a conference record of 4-12. Louisville enters the weekend with a strong performance this season, holding a 38-9 overall record and standing third in the ACC with a conference record of 13-5.

Syracuse recently split a doubleheader against Buffalo, losing the first game but winning the second. The team also secured a walk-off home run by Madison Knight against Notre Dame, marking the first such win for Syracuse since 2022. Madelyn Lopez has contributed multiple hits in recent games, while Kendall Gaunt hit a three-run home run against Colgate. Kayla Sigala recorded her first double of the season and Grace Weaver reached her milestone of 100 putouts as a freshman.

Pitcher Julianna Verni threw a complete game victory over Buffalo and surpassed her career best with her 84th strikeout this season. Against Notre Dame, Verni struck out ten batters over two starts during the weekend.

Louisville comes into this series after losing to Kentucky earlier in the week but swept Pittsburgh last weekend with one walk-off win and two run-rule victories. The Cardinals have two players on Softball America’s Freshman Watch List: Jayden Gohs and Addy O’Dell. Last year, Louisville finished tenth in their conference standings before being eliminated by Virginia in tournament play.

This will be the teams’ 41st through 43rd meetings since their first encounter on April 22, 2002. Historically, Louisville leads the all-time series with twenty-nine wins to Syracuse’s twelve. In their most recent meeting, Syracuse lost both games of a doubleheader against Louisville.

After this road trip, Syracuse will return home to face Virginia Tech at Skytop Stadium from May 1 through May 3.
