The Syracuse Orange softball team ended its season on May 3 with a 12-1 defeat against Virginia Tech. The game, which lasted five innings, saw the Orange finish their campaign with an overall record of 18-26 and a conference record of 4-18.

This result marks the conclusion of the team’s series against Virginia Tech, who finished their regular season at 44-9 overall and 18-6 in conference play. The match was decided early as Virginia Tech took control in the third inning when Nora Abromavage hit a two-run home run over the right field fence.

Syracuse responded briefly when Jadyn Burney drove in Gabby Lantier from second base with a hit to left field. However, Virginia Tech extended its lead significantly in the fourth inning by hitting three home runs, including two back-to-back as part of a seven-run frame. The Hokies added three more runs in the fifth inning to secure victory under run-rule conditions.

Jadyn Burney recorded her twelfth multi-hit game of the season and twenty-first of her career during Sunday’s contest. Lauren Fox and Madelyn Lopez each collected hits for Syracuse. In pitching, Julianna Verni registered two strikeouts over three and one-third innings while Madison Knight struck out three batters during one and two-thirds innings of relief work.
