Two athletes from the Syracuse University women’s rowing team have been named to the CRCA Athletes to Watch List, as announced by the organization on Monday. Senior captain Ellie-Kate Hutchinson is among 23 rowers selected for the main list, while sophomore Acorn Cassidy received one of nine honorable mentions. The recognition highlights standout collegiate rowers ahead of the spring season.

Hutchinson, who was an All-ACC First Team selection in 2025, has played a key role during a successful period for Syracuse rowing. She contributed to the team’s first ACC Championship win in 2024 and helped set a championship record time of 6:09.814 in the varsity eight event.

She also competed in the varsity eight at the 2024 NCAA Championship, where Syracuse achieved an eighth-place finish—matching its second-best result historically. Most recently, Hutchinson helped lead Syracuse to a 13th-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Championship and was previously recognized as ACC Newcomer of the Year in 2023.

Cassidy participated throughout the 2024-25 season in Syracuse’s varsity eight crew, mainly racing from the four-seat position. She aided in securing fourth place at the ACC Championship grand final with a time of 6:13.804 and raced alongside Hutchinson at nationals.

The Orange will begin their spring season next month at the Doc Hosea Invitational on March 28.
