The City of Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation & Youth Programs has announced the opening schedule for outdoor pools, starting on June 18. All pools are expected to be operational by the end of June and will remain open until mid-August, weather permitting.

Initially, from June 18 to June 25, pool hours will be weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 12 to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. Starting June 30, the schedule changes to Monday through Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. Pool hours may change based on staffing and maintenance needs.

Admission is free for everyone on a first-come, first-served basis when capacity limits are reached. Children below a certain height must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 in the water at all times. A maximum of three children per adult is allowed. A deep-water swim test is required upon each entry.

Lap swimming is available at all outdoor pools during open swim hours without charge. The Morning Lap Swim program starts on June 30 at Burnet, Schiller, and Thornden pools for $3 per session.

Swim lessons are offered in two-week sessions with registration opening on June 26 for city residents and June 27 for nonresidents at syracuse.recdesk.com.

The swim team returns this summer with practices starting on June 30 at various city pools. Participants aged between eight and fifteen can join and compete in regular meets.

Aquathon events combining swimming and running are available for youth aged three to fifteen beginning July 13 at five city parks. Registration is free at syracuse.recdesk.com.
