Today marks the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay issued a statement to honor those affected by the tragic events that occurred 23 years ago.
"The senseless acts of terror 23 years ago shook the very core of our country and changed the course of history," Barclay stated. He emphasized how Americans united in support and rebuilding efforts following the attacks.
Barclay urged reflection on this day, paying tribute to "the innocent victims and their families, who will forever carry the weight of Sept. 11, 2001." He also highlighted "the incredible bravery of the first responders who risked everything to save others," noting that their courage and resilience should never be forgotten.
In his concluding remarks, Barclay expressed pride in American unity and remembrance for those lost, saying, "As proud Americans, we will always cherish our fallen heroes and remember the spirit of unity that emerged that day. God bless America."
