The City of Syracuse Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter and Friends of Second Chance, Inc., will host a dog adoption event on Saturday, September 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the shelter, located at 6660 East Seneca Turnpike, 13078. The event aims to connect families with dogs in need of finding their forever homes.
“Dog adoption events not only help find loving homes for dogs in need but also raise awareness about the care and commitment that comes with welcoming a dog into your family,” said Parks Commissioner Tony Williams. “A group of knowledgeable and experienced animal advocates will be on-hand to share their expertise on dog care. These individuals continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of these dogs and highlight the ongoing need.”
During the event, staff, Friends of Second Chance Board members, and volunteers will be available to answer questions, facilitate meet-and-greets, and promote opportunities to get involved, including fostering. Those interested in adopting are encouraged to bring the entire family to meet and interact with their perfect pup.
“With so many wonderful local dogs from the CNY community in need of a second chance, we are looking forward to helping pair these dogs up with loving families,” said Friends of Second Chance Shelter Inc. Board President Kimberly Smith-Ford. “We encourage everyone to stop by meet the dogs, see the shelter and learn how they can help dogs in need from their own community.”
On-site adoptions can take place with prior approved applications. Applications can be found online at www.jamesvillesecondchance.com and emailed to friendsofsecondchance@gmail.com.
Second Chance shelter merchandise will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going directly toward supporting the care of shelter dogs.
