New students are preparing to move into Syracuse University's residence halls with assistance from orientation leaders, volunteers, and the Goon Squad. As Welcome Week approaches, there are numerous activities and opportunities for new students to familiarize themselves with the campus.
The OrangeNow mobile app is recommended for keeping track of Welcome Week information. Available on the App Store and Google Play, the app provides access to campus maps, transit details, parking information, dining options, Wi-Fi details, event schedules, and more.
Several schedules are available for different groups participating in Welcome Week:
- The Complete Welcome Week Schedule includes all events.
- The Family and Supporter Schedule lists events where parents and supporters are invited.
- International Undergraduate Orientation runs from August 17-21. Afterward, international undergraduates should attend required programming from August 22-25.
- Each school or college has its own schedule with specific events.
Campus offices will have extended hours during this period to support new and returning students. Offices such as Apartment and Off-Campus Living | Student Living, Center for Disability Resources, Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs, Food Services, Housing Services among others will be accessible online for specific hours and contact methods.
A variety of fun events are planned throughout the week:
- Tuesday, Aug. 20: “Under The Sea” Party on the Quad (8:30-10 p.m.)
- Wednesday, Aug. 21: Snapshots and Swag (8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.), New Family Orientation (6-8 p.m.), New Student Ice Cream Social (6:30-7:45 p.m.), The Slice Is Right Game Show (8:15-9:30 p.m.)
- Thursday, Aug. 22: New Student Convocation (10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.), Barnes Center at The Arch Kickoff! (8-10 p.m.)
- Friday, Aug. 23: Orange Blast (8-10 p.m.)
- Saturday, Aug. 24: Citrus in the City (5:30-8 p.m.), Dome Sweet Dome (8:30-10 p.m.)
