St. Joseph’s Health has announced that Dr. Cassandra Farrell will join the St. Joseph’s Physicians Primary Care team at the Camillus Medical Center. Dr. Farrell recently completed her Family Medicine Residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center.
Dr. Farrell holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, where she was involved in the Alpha Epsilon Delta Health Pre-Professional Honor Society and also pursued a minor in Studio Art, receiving recognition for her painting at a university art show. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, where she served as National Youth Leadership Forum Student Host.
Her background includes experience as an educator; Dr. Farrell participated in UNECOM’s Undergraduate Mentoring Program, acted as a clinical skills teaching assistant, and conducted Anatomy block reviews before exams. She also worked as a Cellular Biology teaching assistant while at Scranton.
“Since beginning my residency, I have been drawn to the excellence in patient care and the consistent teaching and learning at St. Joseph’s Heath,” said Dr. Farrell. “Especially as an osteopathic provider, I love the patient-centered approach that is practiced here. One of my college courses was called ‘Healer’s Art’ which focused on promoting compassion and dealing with loss and grief. It is skills like these I will bring to my practice to connect with patients in hopes of helping them achieve their best quality of life.”
