Upstate Medical University announced on April 8 that Zafer Soultan, MD, will lead its upcoming Walk with a Doc event scheduled for Saturday, April 11 at the Baldwinsville YMCA. The walk will begin at 9 a.m. on the upstairs track at the facility located at 8040 River Road.

Soultan is an associate professor of pediatrics and serves as director of both the Upstate Sleep Center and Upstate’s Pediatric Pulmonary Center. Before participants start walking, he will give a brief presentation titled “The Power of Your Lungs.” Soultan treats patients with asthma, cystic fibrosis, lung disease, and sleep disorders.

The event is free and open to everyone in the community. Organizers said fruit and water will be available for attendees. Participants are encouraged to walk at their own pace and cover any distance they choose.

Upstate’s Walk with a Doc program began in May of 2024 and is part of a global network that includes about 500 chapters worldwide. More information about local walks can be found on the official Walk with a Doc website.

Questions about participating or leading future walks can be directed to Elizabeth Fuertes-Binder via email.
