Mayor Walsh has issued vetoes on amendments made by the Common Council to the proposed fiscal year 2025-26 city budget. The mayor’s objections cover a total of 45 amendments, which he believes could negatively impact constituents and employees. Each objection is accompanied by a brief explanation.

The vetoed list does not include 37 Council amendments that result in approximately $3.4 million in spending cuts. These reductions are designed to eliminate the need for an increase in the tax rate. This approach aims to meet the Council’s objectives of maintaining the current tax rate and reducing spending while ensuring no job losses among city employees. Essential city services will remain at their current levels, thereby safeguarding the quality of life for residents.
