Junior defender Izzy Lahah has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Defensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league on Tuesday. This marks Lahah’s first time receiving the ACC’s weekly honor.
During recent games against No. 13 Loyola and Louisville, Lahah recorded seven ground balls, seven caused turnovers, one draw control, and also contributed a goal. In the matchup with Loyola, she tallied three turnovers and three ground balls, helping Syracuse secure its first win of the season. The Orange defense limited Loyola to eight shots on goal and seven goals—both season lows for the Greyhounds.
Against Louisville, Syracuse registered 19 caused turnovers, setting a new program record for most in an ACC game and reaching their highest total in any contest since 2019. Lahah led this effort with four caused turnovers and four ground balls and also scored Syracuse’s opening goal.
Syracuse is scheduled to continue its ACC campaign this week with home games at the JMA Wireless Dome against California and Virginia Tech.
