Internships offer crucial opportunities for students to gain professional experience and connect with industry professionals. At Syracuse University, the annual Internship Funding Award aids sophomores and juniors financially during their summer internships. This support could ease expenses for travel or living and applies to internships that are both paid and unpaid. Requirements for applicants include completing an external summer internship under professional supervision and maintaining an up-to-date Handshake profile.
Applications for the 2025 Internship Funding Award are due by June 10. Recipients of last year’s award shared their experiences and advice.
Gabrielle Harrison, a 2024 recipient, worked as a consumer public relations intern at FINN Partners in London. She highlighted the importance of thorough preparation when applying, stating, “Preparation is essential, so take time to craft a compelling narrative that showcases your passion and how this experience will benefit both you and your community.”
Tyler Gentry completed his internship at Vevo in Los Angeles as a music and talent intern. He emphasized perseverance, “Be passionate about what you want and how you will obtain it. My passion and determination helped me stay focused on creating a realistic plan for me to make the internship happen.”
Madison Deak interned at Goldman Sachs Ayco in New York and will return post-graduation. She advised patience in finding the right opportunity, adding, “It may just take time. You will end up where you’re meant to be.”
