New York State is renowned for its high-quality produce, thanks to the dedication of local farmers who supply goods both locally and nationally. One effective way to support these farmers is by attending farmers’ markets across the state, including those in the 120th Assembly District.
State Rep. William A. Barclay expressed enthusiasm about visiting a new market that opened recently behind Mexico High School. This market operates on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. until the end of August and features not only local products but also live music, children’s activities, and food trucks courtesy of the Mexico Chamber of Commerce.
Other markets in Oswego, Fulton, and Pulaski are returning for another season. In addition, Cayuga County and Jefferson County host several popular markets that have become community staples.
The Fulton Farmers’ Market runs through October 11 on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon at Canalview Park & Shop parking lot off State Route 481 (S. 2nd St.). The Oswego Farmers’ Market takes place on West First Street between Bridge Street and Oneida Street on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., running through October 9.
Pulaski’s market offers crafts, music, and family-friendly activities on Fridays through September 26 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pulaski Village South Park off State Route 11. Richland Farmers’ Market at Half-Shire Historical Society is open on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring games like darts and cornhole until September 10.
Barclay emphasized the importance of supporting local farmers who provide essential services under challenging conditions, stating that “farmers’ markets are an important part of the sustainability of our state’s agricultural sector.”
