Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York, has been recognized by the American Hospital Association (AHA) for its 100 years of membership and service. The recognition was marked by an award presented to Crouse Health president and CEO Seth Kronenberg, MD, by AHA Regional Executive Michael Draine on December 4.
“The American Hospital Association is proud to recognize Crouse Hospital for 100 years of membership in the AHA and for their dedication to Central New York,” said Michael Draine. “We thank their leaders, medical staff, caregivers and other colleagues for providing a full range of medical care that is tailored to meet each patient’s needs.”
Crouse Hospital operates as a 506-bed facility with specialized services in cardiology, neuroscience, women and infants’ health, among others. It serves as a major employer in Central New York and acts as a referral center for high-risk neonatal intensive care. Each year, Crouse Health treats over 23,000 inpatients, handles about 56,000 emergency visits, and provides outpatient services to more than 600,000 people.
“We are honored to celebrate this milestone with the American Hospital Association, a partnership we value for its resources, leadership and collaboration. Our mission at Crouse is to provide the best in patient care and promote community health and AHA has been a great partner to help deliver on that mission,” said Dr. Kronenberg.
Founded in 1887 as the Syracuse Women’s Hospital and Training School for Nurses, Crouse Hospital was originally established as the only local hospital admitting women and children.
The American Hospital Association is a national not-for-profit organization representing nearly 5,000 member hospitals along with clinicians such as physicians and nurses across the United States. Established in 1898, it advocates for healthcare providers and offers educational resources about healthcare trends through its website at www.aha.org.
