Chris Mihm, an adjunct professor at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, has been awarded the 2025 Arnold Steigman Excellence in Teaching Award by the New York State Academy for Public Administration (SAPA). This award is presented annually to part-time instructors in public administration who engage public service professionals to promote excellence in the field.
The award honors Arnold Steigman, a government official and educator, and is given by SAPA, a nonprofit organization based in New York State. Mihm teaches courses on public administration and performance management at Maxwell School and is recognized for his ability to present information clearly and create an inclusive classroom environment.
Maxwell Dean David M. Van Slyke praised Mihm’s impact on students through his teaching, noting that he has taught over 400 students in the M.P.A. programs over seven years. Van Slyke stated that Mihm’s former students continue to reflect his influence in their careers.
Mihm has published works on government operations and served 37 years at the U.S. Government Accountability Office. He holds positions with FIFA, the United Nations, and other organizations related to governance and audit.
