The Syracuse International Jazz Fest concluded with a performance by the Spelman College Glee Club at Hendricks Chapel’s “Return to Community: A Sunday Gospel Jazz Service.” This event marked the festival’s grand finale. The festivity was captured in various photos, including a behind-the-scenes shot of the Orange Juice jazz combo performing in Clinton Square.

Students from the Newhouse School’s summer program in New York City participated with ABC’s “Good Morning America” as it moved to a new studio. Meanwhile, members of the university community celebrated Pride month by participating in the Central New York Pride Parade on June 21, accompanied by Otto.

Men’s lacrosse coach Gary Gait threw out the first pitch during SU Day at Yankee Stadium, where students and alumni gathered to watch a game between the Yankees and Orioles. In another sporting achievement, the women’s rowing team placed 12th at the NCAA Women’s Rowing Championship.

Eleven Falk College students traveled to Peru as part of an exercise science course led by Professor Tom Brutsaert. Students explored sites like Cusco and Machu Picchu while studying human adaptation to altitude.

The annual “On My Own Time” art exhibition featured works by faculty and staff selected for display at the Everson Museum of Art. A reception honored participants, showcasing pieces like Megan Graham’s “Sunrise or Sunset Shawl.”

The Syracuse WorkForce Run took place on June 10, with Otto cheering on participants. Other events included a “Get Outdoors” initiative sponsored by the Wellness Initiative and Outdoor Recreation.

Student inventors with Invent@SU worked on prototypes during an open house, while School of Information Studies students presented research in Washington D.C., highlighting technology’s intersection with policy.

Garden Managers Erica Howard and Alyssa Quinn worked on irrigation systems at Pete’s Giving Garden. The College of Arts and Sciences hosted a staff barbeque attended by Dean Behzad Mortazavi.

Syracuse University Libraries commemorated Memorial Day with an exhibition and wreath-laying ceremony outside Hendricks Chapel. Additionally, men’s lacrosse secured a spot in Championship Weekend after defeating Princeton in the NCAA quarterfinals.

The Department of Drama wrapped up its season with a performance of “Little Women” at Syracuse Stage. The Martin J. Whitman School of Management held an Awards and Appreciation celebration honoring outstanding contributors.

During Maymester, Falk College students embarked on an Olympic Odyssey study abroad trip across Europe to explore Olympic history and culture.
