Caleb Samson, video coordinator and player development coach for Syracuse women’s basketball, was named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 30 Under 30 Watchlist on March 24. The recognition highlights young professionals who have made a significant impact in women’s basketball.
The WBCA’s annual list aims to spotlight emerging talent in the sport, underscoring the importance of developing future leaders and coaches. Samson joined the Orange prior to the 2025-26 season and has since played a key role in both technical operations and skill development.
In his position at Syracuse, Samson manages video coordination while also working directly with guards on their skills. He is known for his ability to analyze game film, identify areas for improvement, and translate that analysis into practical drills on the court. This approach has earned him praise for demonstrating a strong basketball IQ.
Samson also leads an analytics staff of eleven students who attend practices and games throughout the season. His leadership has helped members of this group become strong candidates for positions with NBA and WNBA organizations by providing detailed performance insights to coaches.
Beyond his technical contributions, Samson is recognized for fostering trust and accountability among student-athletes at Syracuse. He is described as bringing positive energy and setting high standards daily.
During his first season with Syracuse, Samson contributed to guiding the team to a 24-9 record and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Orange doubled their total wins as well as Atlantic Coast Conference victories compared to last year.
