Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay has expressed his condolences following a tragic event involving former Minnesota Speaker Melissa Hortman and Senator John Hoffman. Barclay acknowledged the nationwide impact of the incident.

He noted that public office comes with scrutiny but emphasized concern over the increasing attacks and rhetoric. He praised the professionals at the Capitol and State Police for their efforts in maintaining safety, despite acknowledging their roles have become more challenging.

Barclay stated, “Information is still coming in about the Minnesota shootings. But, regardless of viewpoints or party enrollment, all Americans can agree—violence in the name of political ideology is unconscionable and the antithesis of our nation’s principles.”
